In October 2007, the Opera Club performed the show 'Children of Eden' written by John Caird and Stephen Schwartz (who wrote music and lyrics for 'Godspell' and the recent West End musical 'Wicked!' among others).
The show was directed by Helen Hardwick with Angela Barker as the Musical Director and Audrey Lucas as Choreographer.
Costumes were supplied by Elizabeth Callow, with help from Lois Hatt and Kentish Opera.
The Animal Masks were made by James Rourke. Photos of the Masks are available here
Congratulations to everyone involved and thank you to everyone who helped us stage this wonderful production.

Walk for the Animals!
Thanks to Helen Parker (Emily's Mum) for this lovely picture of the walkers having a well-earned rest at Polesden Lacey on the recent walk to raise money towards our production of 'Children of Eden'.
Congratulations to all those who took part, thanks to Ann Staddon for organising the event once again, and to everyone who sponsored the walkers.

According to Music Theatre International, "Children of Eden" is 'a joyous and inspirational musical about parents, children and faith... not to mention centuries of unresolved family business!'
'Freely based on the story of Genesis, "Children Of Eden" is a frank, heartfelt and often humorous examination of the age-old conflict between parents and children. Adam, Eve, Noah and the "Father" who created them deal with the headstrong, cataclysmic actions of their respective children. The show ultimately delivers a bittersweet but inspiring message: that "the hardest part of love... is letting go"'.
